Local Dish: Press Grill
August 18th, 2010 | By mdantzer-wvmx in Uncategorized | No Comments »Full disclosure statement: I know the owner, and my first date with Tracie was here…I am kinda biased when it comes to this hot spot in the Short North…many happy memories here.
Still…I can say with total honesty that this place is terrific…the quintessential casual neighborhood bar restaurant. My Local Dish partner, Bob Donegan is a new fan after his first -ever visit. Bob had the Pesto Chicken sandwich based on the recommendation of our server and I had the Press Burger, a TASTY burger with fried egg- yum.
Vibe, service, food, value: great, great, great, great!
Worst date ever: Boyfriend bails as foul ball hits girlfriend
August 11th, 2010 | By mdantzer-wvmx in Uncategorized | No Comments »Many women would do anything for a boyfriend who likes to dance.
But as one woman unfortunately learned on Monday, a man who decides to do the Texas two-step and electric slide away from your side as a foul ball screams toward you into the stands is far from a dream date.
In one of the funnier foul ball mishaps I’ve seen, a woman named Sarah was struck with a foul ball at the Houston Astros game after her male companion named Bo ducked out of the way.

Local Dish with Dantzer- J. Gumbo’s
July 21st, 2010 | By mdantzer-wvmx in Uncategorized | No Comments »When I think good, down home cajun cookin’, I think…Gahanna?? Absolutely!
I am a major fan of Bayou cuisine and J. Gumbo’s in the Creekside area of Gahanna does it right. Bob Donegan, my co-reviewer had just returned from New Orleans and he gave J. Gumbo’s a big thumbs-up. Big bowls of Gumbo, Jambalaya and Etouffee really hit the spot, and lunch for two was less than $15.00. Clean store and terrific service.
4 Stars.

Tracie and I highly recommend taking dance lessons. We are going to “tear it up” for our first dance at our upcoming wedding. (even though my idea for “Bring the Noise” by Public Enemy as first song was nixed…)
