Shadowbox Rocks!

February 26th, 2010 | By mdantzer-wvmx in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Shadowbox Cabaret at Easton was where Tracie and I went on one of our first dates.  We have returned many times, including last Friday with a big group of friends for Tracie’s birthday.  A 6′3″ Tina Turner in drag performed an exciting birthday serenade for Tracie (every girls’ dream!)  We love Shadowbox!

February 25th, 2010 | By mdantzer-wvmx in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Bob & I are 3 for 3 with our new restaurant review segment- Dewey’s Pizza rocks!  (see reviews for Dirty Frank’s and Bamboo Cafe below.)

Already hugely popular in Dayton/Cincy, Dewey’s Pizza plans 4 more Columbus locations which is excellent news for us.  You can find Dewey’s on 5th Avenue near Nothwest Bvld. in Grandview.

Tremendous service, clean store, big, TASTY pizzas, dynamite salads (cannot believe I just called a salad dynamite!)

4 stars (out of 5.)

Columbus Restaurant Review- Dirty Frank’s Hot Dog Palace

February 17th, 2010 | By mdantzer-wvmx in Uncategorized | 1 Comment »

This place is worth the wait!  (Actually, it was busy with no line when Bob Donegan & I stopped for lunch last week.)  I can see why columbusunderground.com picked this as the best new restaurant in Columbus for 2009. Great service, killer dogs & fries.  I will be back soon!

This is a brand new feature I am excited to present: Columbus Restaurant Reviews.

Bob Donegan is one of the top realtors in Columbus and he has sold two of my homes.  Bob is also my friend and business mentor.   We meet weekly for lunch to discuss ways for me to grow my Mobile DJ company.  Bob has an amazing mind for marketing.  He also shares my TOTAL excitement for a great meal!

For our first restaurant review, we selected Bamboo Cafe Thai & Vietnamese Cuisine at 774 Bethel Road.  Bob & I give Bamboo Cafe high marks for excellent service, clean decor, and great quality food.  Try the fresh shrimp spring rolls wrapped in rice paper- excellent!  The Pad Keemaw, recommended by our server was delicious.  Be prepared for a bill of over $30.00 with tip if you order two appetizers & two entrees…worth it if it’s in your budget.

3 STARS (out of 5.)

Send your comments for me to post if you have been to Bamboo Cafe.

KILLER Slow-Jam!

February 9th, 2010 | By mdantzer-wvmx in Uncategorized | No Comments »

I recently stumbled across this classic from Mr. Solomon Burke.  Add this to your "Make-Out" playlist immediately!

Patrick Stump from Fallout Boy says, "I've had three girlfriends since this song came out, and I've played it for all of them. It's like, 'If you don't like this song, I don't think we can date.'"

Thank you, ODOT!

Snow removal crews in Columbus were IMPRESSIVE, clearing away 10+ inches over the weekend.  Thanks to all the workers who pulled double-shifts and worked long hours to make our roads safe.

Thanks to all local heroes who cleared sidewalks and driveways for the elderly and people not capable of doing the work themselves- way to go!

And a shout-out to all the young entrepreneurs who made some $$$ shoveling…that was me back in junior-high (partly so I could buy pizza and guitar strings, and partly because my dad made me do it!)

Live at India Oak

February 4th, 2010 | By mdantzer-wvmx in Uncategorized | No Comments »

India Oak Pub is a legendary Clintonville neighborhood joint.  They have big, tasty, cheap subs, a laid-back, friendly vibe and they get a great crowd of super-friendly people.

And they let me fullfill my rockstar wannabe dreams every Thursday during Happy Hour, 6-9.  My acoustic duo is Mark & Amos- sometimes we are background music while people hang out, sometimes people sing along and dance…sometimes they join the band!

We have a blast every Thursday- come on out!

Here is a review from Columbus Alive:

The green pitched roof of the India-Oak Grill hides quietly behind a UDF, a tall fence and a smattering of haphazardly parked cars. It’s the kind of place only locals frequent, but newcomers are pleasantly surprised to end up.

The Grill had been a longtime favorite of Clintonville resident Matt Gill, so he and his two brothers jumped at the chance to buy the bar nearly four years ago. “Everyone knows each other [here]. It’s friendly and welcoming,” he said.
