Easton & Blue Jackets: Local Heroes

July 28th, 2009 | By mdantzer-wvmx in Uncategorized | No Comments »

I read a great story in Columbus Monthly:
“Easton Town Center officials found themselves with a problem not that long ago: too many Canadian coins. About 10,000 of them–the equivalent of $1,400 in American dollars–had found their way into parking meters. Columbus banks wouldn’t take them. Eaton couldn’t spend them. So they decided to donate the coins to a charity based in Toronto: Canadian Feed the Children. Because the coins cost too much to send by mail, the Columbus Blue Jackets delivered the donation while on a roadtrip to Toronto.
Isn’t that terrific?

Do you know a local hero? Someone who mows the lawn of an elderly neighbor? A coach who gives selflessly to the kids in the community? Tell me about them so I can inspire Mix listeners with their stories.

Cosmo- Top 10 Things He Doesn’t Want to Hear About Your Ex.

July 17th, 2009 | By mdantzer-wvmx in Uncategorized | No Comments »

1. Don’t say: “Everyone loved him.”
A guy likes to think he is the best man you’ve ever dated and that he’s the favorite of all the important people in your life: siblings, friends, and especially your parents. When your new guy finds out that everybody loved the old boyfriend, his confidence wanes. It’s bad enough that his girlfriend has certain expectations. Now, living up to the group’s expectations might be a tall order.
What to say instead: “They liked him but didn’t know the real person.”
2. Don’t say: “He made good money.”
3. Don’t say: “He broke my heart.”
4. Don’t say: “He is doing great.”
5. Don’t say: “He brought me here once.”
6. Don’t say: “He bought me this.”
7. Don’t say: “He and I planned to…”
8. Don’t say: “He was funny.”
9. Don’t say “He got into fights.”
10.Don’t say “He was good/bad at sex.”

Poison Ivy- yikes!

July 16th, 2009 | By mdantzer-wvmx in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Doncha just love it? My arms are covered with poison ivy. I feel especially cool because I told Tracie, “I never get poison ivy,” as I worked in an over-grown area behind her garage.
It was fun wearing long sleeves to the Mix “Chill & Grill” last night in the 85-degree weather! (I didn’t want to repulse anybody with my scarred, inflamed arms.)
People sure love to offer advice:
” Pour bleach on it.”
“Rub kosher salt on it.”
“Bathe in oatmeal and tomato soup.”
Put leeches on it.
Yodel at it.
Play the Macarena at it.
(I made a few of those up…)
Itchily yours.
