She Was a Fast Machine

We, the human race, are powerless to resist “You Shook Me All Night Long” by AC/DC.  I have been a radio and live DJ in Columbus for 20 years.  I have played this AC/DC classic at nearly every one of my thousands of shows.  I tell myself, “Tonight will be the night I skip it…enough is enough!”  But there comes that point in the evening, when the crowd is hot and it is time for the big tear-the-house-down moment; I reach for the song that has NEVER failed my dance floor, and mayhem ensues.

‘Cause the walls start shaking
The earth was quaking
My mind was aching
And we were making it and you -

Shook me all night long

Well, that’s everything I live for right there.  (okay sometimes I live for reading in bed while I eat chocolate covered raisens.)  But that driving beat, greasy guitar and shout-along chorus endures for a reason- it puts bodies on the dance floor, so help me I know.  The Alfretta Group was a blast Saturday night at Moundbuilder’s Country Club in Newark and AC/DC was the peak of the evening.

 An open bar never hurts.

Post-Oliver Wedding

April 20th, 2009 | By mdantzer-wvmx in Uncategorized | No Comments »

I had the honor of providing music and emcee service for the wedding reception of Dr. & Mrs. Eric & Stephanie Oliver at Wedgewood Country Club Saturday night.  At the request of the bride, I lit the entire ballroom with warm, glowing amber uplighting.  I shared music duties with Maurcie Lomanaco, an amazing singer the bride’s family had flown in from Florida.  It was a very elegant celebration…and then we partied like rock stars!!  Guest finally called it a night after NINE HOURS of dancing and fun.  That’s right, 9 HOURS!

Some musical highlights that packed the dance floor:

“Just My Imagination” - Eric & Stephanie’s 1st dance

“Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” (they loved their Temptatations!)

“Respect”

“Mercy” (this cool song by Duffy was the bride’s favorite song)

“We are Family”

“Blister in the Sun”

“Save the Last Dance”- Michael Buble (but we kept on dancing!)

Thank you to the Mr Bill Post for being such a pleasure to work with!
